JoAnn Bassar
JoAnn Bassar, 61, of Butler died at 10:04 p.m. Friday in the Butler Memorial Hospital Emergency Room due to an automobile accident on East Brady Street.
Born May 7, 1947, in Hopewell, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Barilla and the late Mildred Vucinich Barilla.
Mrs. Bassar was an administrative assistant for Allied Rubber and the Rigging Supply Co. in Butler.
She was a Serbian Orthodox.
Mrs. Bassar was a member of the VFW249 Ladies Auxiliary, the American Legion 778 Ladies Auxiliary of Lyndora and the Slovak Sokol Society of Lyndora.
Mrs. Bassar is survived by her two daughters, Alyssa and her husband, Douglas Halsted, of Charlotte, N.C., and Dana Knox and her friend, Pat Gallagher, of Butler.
Mrs. Bassar was preceded in death by her husband, Nick Bassar Jr., who passed away Feb. 15, 1998; and also by her companion, Rodger Hathaway, who also passed away Jan. 9.
