Steve Alex Daniels

Steve Alex Daniels, 84, of North Huntingdon died Thursday at the Kane Regional Hospital, McKeesport.

He was born Feb. 3, 1925, in Lyndora, a son of the late Andrew and Barbara Sipos Daniels.

Before his retirement, Mr. Daniels was employed as a pressman by General Motors/Fisher Body.

He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church of North Huntingdon, the White Oak American Legion, the East McKeesport VFW and the United Auto Workers Union.

A veteran of World War II and the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army, 300th Combat Engineers, and he was a veteran of the Battle of the Bulge.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Andrew and Louis Daniels; and three sisters, Mary Tucci, Margaret Minto and Pearl Weitzel.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Goldie Mandell Daniels; a son, James L. Daniels of North Huntingdon; a daughter, Linda Halverson and her husband, Ralph, of Port Vue; three grandsons, Robert and Christopher Phillips and Timothy Daniels; and two great-grandsons, Steve Alex Daniel Phillips and Jacob Donovan Philips.

<B>DANIELS</B> — Friends of Steve Alex Daniels, who died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the <B>James W. Shirley Funeral Home</B>, Clay Pike, North Huntingdon. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Doug Burns officiating.
