Phyllis 'Jean' Burke
Phyllis "Jean" Burke, 83, of Sarver died Monday at her daughter's home.
Born Sept. 15, 1925, in Buffalo Township, she was the daughter of Jacob and Anna (McGinnis) Hamilton.
She worked as a picker for Moonlight Mushroom. She also worked at the Buffalo Elementary School cafeteria as a cook and then advanced to the position of head cook.
She was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She served as the church financial secretary for a number of years.
She enjoyed gardening, bowling, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are her son, Leo A. "Tony" (Danna) Burke of Sarver; her two daughters, Colleen (Walter) Johnson of Butler and Amy (Charlie) Holben of Cabot; her five grandchildren, Tiffany Holben, Nikita Burke, Collin Burke, Dillion Holben and Madison Holben; and her two sisters-in-law, Midge Hamilton of Tarentum and Dorothy Burke of Butler.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband, Leo A. Burke, who died in 1975. She was the last descendant of the Hamilton family.
<B>BURKE</B> — Friends of Phyllis "Jean" Burke, who died Monday, Dec. 8, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Fox Funeral Home</B>, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. Visitation also will be held from 10 a.m. to the time of services at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Zion United Methodist Church. The Rev. Howard Greenfield will officiate.
