Donations accepted for Avenge Hunger

Armstrong will be collecting nonperishable food and monetary donations for local feeding programs starting Monday and continuing through Oct. 3.

The company will conduct its Avenge Hunger Month program during September as part of its Breaking Bread initiative.

Donations can be dropped off at the local Armstrong office, 660 S. Benbrook Road.

The drive helps to supply more than 200 community feeding programs throughout the company's footprint in Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, West Virginia, Maryland and Kentucky.

Armstrong has collected nearly 100,000 pounds of food and $43,000 in monetary donations to share with community feeding programs over the past three years.

“Armstrong is glad to help support the local food pantries, and I'm proud of our employees who support these efforts and make a difference in the place we call home,” said Allen Hassler, Armstrong general manager.

The Breaking Bread initiative began in 2010 to battle food insecurity in the community and increase public awareness.
