Coats accepted for local needy

Bundle Up Butler is accepting coats of all sizes to be distributed Oct. 13 at Memorial Park.

The annual event provides winter coats and other cold-weather gear to those in the county who cannot afford to buy them.

Donations of new and slightly used winter coats, in sizes from newborn to adult plus sizes, are being accepted from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday at Center for Community Resources, 212-214 S. Main St., Butler.

As was the case last year because of the coronavirus pandemic, the upcoming coat distribution will be a drive-up and walk-up event at Memorial Park.

Registration is required by calling 724-431-3748 to receive a coat.

Those collecting a coat for themselves and/or their children should enter the park at Miller or Wick streets from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 13, or walk up from 1 to 3 p.m.

Drive-up is preferred, and coats cannot be tried on.

While children’s coats will be distributed free while supplies last, adult coats require a $5 donation.
