Charles Olen
Charles Edward Olen, 86, formerly of Prospect, passed away in The Grove at Harmony Care Home on Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2023, with his family by his side.
Born Oct. 28, 1936, in Butler, he was the son of the late Alex and Anna Martinyak Olen.
He was a member of the Mt. Nebo Presbyterian Church.
Chuck was an honorably discharged Korean War veteran of the U.S. Navy, who proudly served from 1954 to 1957 in the Atlantic Fleet.
He retired from the Butler VA Medical Center, where he had worked for 32 years in the engineering department.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 778 and the Butler chapter of NARFE, National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association.
In his younger years, he bowled with the VA bowling league, he also enjoyed fishing locally and in Florida. He loved his family and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his stepson Scott E. (Beverly) McKinney, of Prospect; and his grandchildren, Gina McKinney, of Prospect and Clayton McKinney, of Amherst, N.Y.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Juanita “Jean” Olen, whom he married April 19, 1969, and who passed away on Jan. 10, 2013; stepson, James A. McKinney; two brothers, John A. Olen and Steve A. Olen; and two sisters, Ann Schaffer and Mary Gryster.
OLEN — Per his request, private services were held for Charles Edward Olen, who died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2023, at RAISLEY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 387 Main St., Prospect.
Interment with military honors were in the Mt. Nebo Cemetery, Evans City.
