BUTLER TWP — Walgreens on New Castle Road recently opened a Take Care Clinic in the store.

The clinic is staffed by nurse practitioners and physician assistants for the diagnoses of common family illnesses, vaccinations, physicals and examinations.

Walgreens has 359 clinics in 19 states.

PITTSBURGH — A home-visit hospice business is now serving Butler County.Grane Hospice has an office in Pittsburgh and will send nursing and medical personnel to customers throughout Western Pennsylvania, including Butler County.Dr. Michael Fiorina of Butler joined Grane as medical educator and medical director, teaching health care professionals about hospice, a service for terminally ill patients to make the most of their quality of life and to help with pain and medicine management.Dr. Fiorina is a 1991 graduate of Washington and Jefferson College. He graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1995, and did his residency in family medicine in 1998 at Allegheny Family Physicians, part of Hershey Medical Center.He is at Fiorina Family Practice in Lyndora.

The Butler Health System Board of Trustees has added Margaret Irvine Weir, president of NexTier Bank, to its membership.She fills a board position that was left vacant in 2009 when Pat Green left the health system board.

The Butler County Housing Authority has hired two new staff members for the resident initiatives department.Barbara Sarvey is a graduate of Slippery Rock University and will assist Martha Brown with service coordination and homeless counseling.Kristin Dersham is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and will provide housing counseling services.
