Joseph Westcott, 84, of Zelienople, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2023, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family.

Born March 12, 1939, in Perth Amboy, N.J., he was the son of the late Stella Abramik Piaino.

Joe proudly served our country in the U.S. Army. He retired after 37 years from Bell Telephone Company, and also enjoyed working in the golf department at Dick’s Sporting Goods. He volunteered for several years at Passavant Retirement Community in Zelienople, where his late wife Kathy resided.

Joe was an amazing artist who worked in mediums such as pen and ink, watercolors and airbrushing. He had his art displayed at the Three Rivers Arts Festival in Pittsburgh many times. On Wednesdays, he enjoyed a round of golf at Stonecrest. Above all, he was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who will be dearly missed.

Joe leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, Joseph Westcott Jr. and his significant other, Jenn Irwin, Monica Westcott, and Valerie Checkeye and her husband, James; his grandchildren, Ashley Cmar and her significant other, Jon Cossman, Joseph R. Westcott, Zachary Westcott and his significant other, Karah Kummer, Shaylea Checkeye and Dezaray Jacobs; his great-grandchildren, Deanna Cmar and Max Cmar; his sister, Marion Smith and her son, Gary; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathleen A. Smola Westcott, who passed away in 2021.

WESTCOTT — A memorial service for Joe, who died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2023, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Main St. Ext., Butler, with Pastor Brandon Lenhart officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family strongly encourages memorial donations to be made in his honor to the Benevolent Fund at Passavant Retirement Community, 105 Burgess Drive, Zelienople, PA 16063.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.
