Bowser

Eleanor M. Bowser, 85, of Butler died Wednesday morning at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

Born Jan. 9, 1925, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Frances (Osche) Beneigh.

She was a homemaker, and had volunteered her time for the Grapevine and at the Cherry Tree gift store at Butler Memorial Hospital and also helped with preparing taxes at the Tanglewood Center.

Eleanor was a member of the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler, the Women's Council of St. Peter, A.A.R.P., the Catholic Daughters of America Butler Court 443 and the Women of the Moose Butler Chapter 0260, where she received the Star Recorder, the College of Regents and the Academy of Friendship.

Surviving are six sons, James L. Bowser of Butler, David A. Bowser of Mercer, Francis P. Bowser of San Diego, Calif., Robert A. Bowser of Slippery Rock, William J. Bowser of Butler and Douglas E. Bowser of Evans City; two daughters, Sara J. "Sally" Bowser and Donna M. Bowser, both of Butler; a sister, Marian Beneigh of Butler; eight grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Bowser, who she married July 28, 1943 and who died Feb. 27, 1978; her daughter, Judith (Bowser) Blair; three brothers, and three sisters.

<B>Bowser </B>—<B> </B>Friends of Eleanor M. Bowser, who died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010, will be received at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St., Butler. The Rev. James Dolan, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the St. Peter Parish Cemetery.Members of the C.D. of A. will meet at 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home to recite the rosary.The Women's Council of St. Peter will meet at 10:40 a.m. Saturday at the church to recite the rosary.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
