Harvey Rice
Harvey LaVerne Rice, 90, formerly of Harmony, passed away at St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars on Monday, July 24, 2023.
Harvey was born at his home in Prospect in January 1933. He was the son of Harvey William and Mary Elizabeth (Wehr) Rice.
Harvey was a retired supervisor at Universal Manufacturing. He was a member of St. Peter’s Reformed Church in Zelienople. He was a member of the Scottish Rite, Masonic Lodge 429 and the Shriners.
During his lifetime he enjoyed many hobbies including woodworking, motorcycle riding, snowmobiling and horseback riding on his Tennessee Walkers. He will be fondly remembered by his daughters and grandchildren for his storytelling.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Donna Jean (Osborne) Rice, in March 2019.
He is survived by a sister, Eleanor June Brandon, of Prospect; a brother, Ronald A. (Loretta) Rice, of Harmony; two daughters, Debra J. (Stanley) Shreve, of Union City, Pa., and Kathleen J. (Neal) Lutz, of Zelienople; seven grandchildren, Shawn C. Evans, of Harmony, Mary E. (Joseph) VonMerveldt, of Sebring, Fla., Jesse A. (Shanna) Evans, of Harmony, Katherine J. Czech, of Erie, William E. (Kristin) Shreve, of Winfield, Pa., Adam L. (Katie) Lutz, of Zelienople, and Amanda J. Campbell, of Union City; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, William G. Rice, Ernest Rice, Carl Rice and Eileen F. (Rice) VanGorder.
RICE — Family and friends of Harvey LaVerne Rice, who died Monday, July 24, 2023, will be received for visitation from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.
A celebration of life service for family and friends will be held 11 a.m. Friday at St. Peter’s Reformed Church, 320 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.
He will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Burial Estates in Butler.
Donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
