Maxine Cooper
Maxine I. Cooper, 94, formerly of East Butler, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 22, 2023, under the care of Concordia at the Orchard.
Maxine was born on July 19, 1929, in Butler, and was the daughter of the late Roy and Elizabeth (McMillen) Cochran. Maxine was a beacon of strength, resilience and compassion. In her 94 years, she touched countless lives with her vibrant spirit, warmth and infectious laughter.
Maxine graduated from Butler High School in 1947. On Sept. 11, 1948, Maxine married her husband, the late Alfred (Ed) Cooper, who passed away on Dec. 19, 1985, and together they built a beautiful life centered on family and friendships. For many years, Maxine worked in the Tape Core Department as a dedicated laborer, retiring from Magnetics in East Butler in 1993. However, it was her role as a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that truly defined her. She cherished the simple pleasure of lunches spent with her close-knit group of friends from Magnetics. Her love for her family and friends was her guiding principle, and she held those bonds dear to her heart.
She is survived by her daughters, Denise (Michael) Achezinski of Butler, and Cindy (Dennis) Corbett of Butler; her daughter-in-law, Carolyn Cooper of Evans, W.Va.; her grandchildren, Heather Corbett, Brian Achezinski and Cory (Rebecca) Achezinski; her great-grandchildren, Aiden, Hank, Tessa and Kaden; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Maxine was preceded in death by her son, Gary Cooper; her brothers, Noble and William Cochran; and her sisters, Imogene Himrod, Margaret Rent and Helen Furner.
