Brothers

Robert L. “Bob” Brothers, 77, of Karns City, passed away Thursday morning, July 20, 2023, at Butler Memorial Hospital following a brief battle with thyroid cancer.

Bob was born in Butler, on March 31, 1946. He was the son of the late Samuel W. and Mildred Yeager Brothers.

Bob was a graduate of Fairview Township-Karns City High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Vietnam. In his earlier years, he was employed at Pullman Standard in Butler and later as an ironworker at AK Steel, retiring in 2006.

He also looked forward to camping in the Tionesta area, where he was affectionately known as “the fishing god,” and hiking trips to Virginia with his son. He also enjoyed the company of his faithful companions, his Boston terriers, Holly and Molly.

Bob is survived by his wife, Sherry McCracken Brothers, whom he married in Haysville on July 31, 1970. Also surviving are two children, Kristl Double and her husband, Jason “Dub,” and Jason Brothers and his wife, Ericka; two grandchildren, Rayne Brothers and her fiancé, Blake Smith, and Briar Brothers, all of Karns City; two brothers, Samuel Brothers, of Petrolia and George Brothers and his wife, Laura, of Chicora; a brother-in- law, James Weis, of Titusville; a sister-in- law, Pam Bryan, of Rimersburg; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
