7:19 p.m. Wednesday — A car driven by David Lesney, 22, of Butler struck a utility pole at Jackson and Walnut streets. Lesney told police the crash occurred when he swerved his car to avoid another vehicle going the wrong way.Wednesday — A laptop computer and global positioning system unit were stolen from a car on North Main Street. The unknown thief broke a passenger side window to get into the car. The theft occurred between 6:30 and 10:20 p.m.4:44 p.m. Sunday — A 17-year-old boy is accused of injuring another boy during a fight on Wagner Avenue. Police did not identify the youths.The 15-year-old victim was taken by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital. Police said he was treated for a cut on the head.The injury occurred, police said, when the suspect shoved the younger boy into a fence. The 17-year-old is charged in juvenile court with simple assaultButler Twp Police3:46 p.m. Wednesday — Shelby Lynn Hodge, 19, of Fenelton was arrested with suspected heroin on Fairground Hill Road at the Butler Intermediate High School. Police said Hodge faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
Thursday — Police filed theft charges against Justin R. Como, 22, of Grove City for allegedly taking $180 from a Pine Township man last week at the victim's Macrae Drive home.8:30 p.m. Wednesday — A 29-year-old woman told police that an unknown man accosted her and tried to sexually assault her as she walked on Walters Road in Pine Township.Police described the suspect as white with a large build and red beard. He was wearing blue jeans, a red or orange hooded sweat shirt and a ball cap turned backward on his head.The woman said the man grabbed her by the hair and dragged her into a wooded area near Walters and Stevenson roads. The man tried unsuccessfully to rape her before she said he struck her in the side of the head with a rock.She told police she was able to get away and get help.Police said an "extensive search" assisted by the Mercer County sheriff's canine and local firefighters failed to turn up the suspect.Anyone with information about the case is asked to call police at 724-662-6162.
