Butler advances to Allegheny River League title matchup

Jordan Vicari was 4-for-4 and Jacob Szebalskie collected three hits in four at bats, as Kelly Chevrolet Butler Pony Baseball defeated Freeport #2, 11-3, Wednesday in an Allegheny River League playoff semifinal. Szebalskie doubled in the second and sixth innings and singled in the first.

Ryan Rattigan fanned 11 batters and gave up four hits and two runs over five innings of work.

Freeport #2 opened the scoring with two runs in their first turn at the plate, then Vicari singled in the bottom half of that inning, tying the game at two.

In the bottom of the second, Butler broke up the tie when Szebalskie doubled, scoring one run. Then a single by Vicari followed to extend the lead to 4-2.

Butler scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. Szebalskie doubled, scoring one run, Ryan Collins tripled, scoring two runs, Vicari singled, scoring one run, and an error scored one run.

Butler piled up 16 hits in the game. Szebalskie, Collins, Jacob Kollinger, and Joey Porneluzi each collected multiple hits for Butler. Collins stole two bases.

Butler will host Saxonburg in the ARL league championship Friday at 6:00 pm at Adelman Field.
