John M. Hohn
John M. “Spike” Hohn, 93, of Chicora, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 4, 1929, in Chicora, and was the son of the late Charles Martin Hohn and Susan (Dolan) Hohn.
Spike was a lifetime member of North Butler Presbyterian Church. He had worked as a lab technician at Magnetics for 30 years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason of Argyle Lodge 540, where he was the Master in 1963. Spike was also a member of New Castle Consistory. Spike was an Army veteran. He enjoyed golfing and hunting.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Shelly Thoma of Franklin; two sons, Bill (Grace) Hohn of Blue Bell and Eric (Lisa) Hohn of Butler; nine grandchildren, Jen Fitzpatrick, Zack Thoma, Brittany Montjoy, Meredith and Elek Hohn, and David, Aaron, Adam and Maggie Hohn; five great-grandchildren, Caroline, Connor, Parker, Brody and Corinne; his in-laws, Paul (Renie) Kiser and Faye Hohn; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Jane “Mitzi” Hohn, who died Dec. 23, 2014; two sisters and three brothers; son-in-law, Charles Thoma; and his stepmother, Marian (Barbary) Hohn.
The family would like to extend their thanks to his personal caregivers, the Advanced Care Center, the Butler Memorial Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospice.
HOHN — A memorial service for John M. “Spike” Hohn, who died Tuesday, June 20, 2023, will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2023, at North Butler Presbyterian Church, 137 N. Butler Road, Chicora.
Burial will be private.
