Spohn

Helen Spohn of Butler celebrated her 90th birthday Friday with a surprise party and dinner at South Butler Fire Hall.

The former Helen Benchuk was born Dec. 25, 1916, in New York City. She married Fred Spohn Nov. 5, 1939. He is deceased.

She has four children, Nancy Scuro, Linda Rottman, Fred Spohn and John Spohn, all of Butler. She also has 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Spohn is retired from the Thorofare Market, where she worked for 20 years.

She is a member of the South Butler Fireman's Auxiliary, the Sunnyview Auxiliary, the Tanglewood Center, AARP and a bowling league.

She is also a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Butler.
