Guitar player Jake Parks hops off the stage Saturday afternoon in front of his daughter, Ryleigh, at a Butler Police K-9 benefit concert at Kelly Automotive Park. Money collected from ticket sales at the concert are going to help pay the expenses of the city’s two German shepherd police dogs. The dogs — Gunner and Blade — are handled by officers Brian Grooms and Dave Villotti, respectively. The city has spent $101,000 on its two K-9 officers since the program was started in 2012, according to city records. All of the money has come from private donations, T-shirt sales and fundraising dinners. The funding goes to covering expenses for everything from dog food to safety equipment for the officers.
