2:43 a.m. Sunday — Tiffany M. Copple, 19, of Pittsburgh allegedly sped away after the car she was driving struck another vehicle on Route 8 near Cooledge Street. Police in Penn and Adams townships later stopped Copple on Route 8 in Middlesex Township.Butler Township police charged Copple with hit-and-run and reckless driving.

9:30 p.m. Saturday — Anthony Maher, 23, of Karns City was caught with suspected marijuana and a marijuana pipe in a store parking lot on Route 8 in Center Township. Police said he faces misdemeanor drug charges.

Monday — A handgun was reported stolen from a vehicle parked on Lairds Crossing Road in Worthington.1:13 p.m. Sunday — Numerous pieces of jewelry were found in East Franklin Township. A Cowansville resident found the items and brought them to the Kittanning barracks.The jewelry includes gold chain, diamond pendants, gold tie clips, earrings and cuff links. The owner may claim the property by calling police at 724-543-2011.

6:30 p.m. Saturday — Three people, two from Grove City, were seriously hurt in a three-vehicle crash in Springfield Township.The crash happened when a sport utility vehicle driven by Robert J. Buchanan, 69, of Grove City and a pickup truck driven by Jack D. Grimm III, 18, of Volant collided on Route 208 just east of Veterans Road.The collision pushed Buchanan’s vehicle into another SUV driven by Michael L. Herndon, 51, of Grove City.Medical helicopters flew Buchanan and two of his passengers, Deverah V. Buchanan, 68, of Grove City and Hugh Sturgis, 70, of Titusville, Crawford County, to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Youngstown, Ohio. All three suffered “major injuries,” according to a police report. Their conditions were not known this morning.Barbara J. Thompson, 68, of Titusville, another passenger in Buchanan’s SUV, was taken to Grove City Medical Center with moderate injuries.Springfield Township volunteer firefighters assisted at the scene. The crash investigation continues.5:40 a.m. Saturday — An unknown would-be thief tried to use a counterfeit $20 bill to buy a soda drink at the Sheetz store on Route 258 in Springfield Township.When informed by the clerk that the bill was fake, the suspect, described as a white male in this teens, fled the store and drove away in a maroon Ford Escape with a charcoal bottom.Anyone with information about the case is asked to call police at 724-662-6162.
