Golf scramble to benefit local law enforcement

The Chief Greg Adams Inaugural Memorial Golf Scramble, which aims to benefit local law enforcement, will take place at noon on June 23 at Saxon Golf Course in Sarver.

Friends of the Saxonburg Police and COPS-1 (Community One Public Safety Training Initiative) are the Butler County groups who are collaborating to bring the fundraising event to the public because of their common missions and dedicated commitment to the needs of local law enforcement officers.

Food and games within the event will take place such as a $10,000 hole-in-one shot, longest putt, closest to the pin shot and a silent auction.

Golfers and sponsors can register at cops-1.org/events.

Slippery Rock well-represented on All-Region squad

Following a showing in which he claimed three individual district titles — in the 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles and the long jump — and a state title in the 300 hurdles, Slippery Rock High junior Levi Prementine was named as the District 10, Region 2 Athlete of the Year.

Along with that, the Rockets’ boys track and field team was well represented on the District 10, Region 2 All-Star team.

Prementine (100 meters, 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles, long jump), Tyler Arblaster (200 meters, 400 meters), and Zach Hoehn (shot put) were all recognized on the first team as individuals. The Rockets also claimed all three first-team relay groups, with Dustin Joyce, Trent Davey, Jesse Gahring, Eli Anderson, Sam Schwartz, Anthony Robare, Viktor Zahn, and Tyler Arblaster being recognized.

Anderson was a second-team honoree in the 110 and 300 hurdles, Dustin Joyce in the triple jump, and Nate Jesteadt in the pole vault.

East Butler earns BCABL win

Jacob Wagner struck out five, walked one and allowed just one earned run in six innings in East Butler’s recent 6-5 win over Freeport in BCABL action.

East Butler plated all of its runs in the second inning, thanks to Cam Cygan’s bases-clearing double, Cody Fike’s two-run triple and a run-scoring base hit from Tristan Kenzevich.

Peyton Folk and Wagner both had two hits in the victory. Walker tallied a pair of hits for Freeport.
