Butler Police4 p.m. Thursday — Two people were hurt when cars driven by Christopher Diaz, 23, and Lucas Haffely, 22, both of Butler, collided at South Main and East Campbell streets. Both drivers suffered minor injuries. Haffely, who was wearing a seat belt, was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital.Diaz, who was not wearing a seat belt, was cited for careless driving.Thursday — A thief stole a purse from an unlocked vehicle at a Walker Avenue home. The tan purse contained a Verizon Android cell phone valued at $200, a bank debit card and personal information.

Butler Twp PoliceWednesday — Police filed drugged driving charges against Jennifer D. Poloff, 27, of Saltsburg, Indiana County, stemming from a 1:15 p.m. June 16 two-vehicle, rear-end crash on South Duffy Road. Samantha Firouzi, 46, of Renfrew was the other driver.12:03 a.m. Tuesday — An unidentified vehicle sideswiped a car on Whitestown Road just east of Cortland Lane, and did not stop. The collision forced the car, driven by Timothy Trivett, 26, of Lyndora, into a utility pole.The suspected hit-and-run vehicle is white and believed to be a four-door sedan. That vehicle should have “noticeable driver’s side damage.”Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call police at 724-285-9600.Tuesday — Someone broke into the Central Electric Cooperative substation on Country Club Road in Franklin Township and used bolt cutters to cut the neutral copper wire that was attached to a regulator.The regulator was destroyed when the wire was cut sometime between June 21 and Tuesday.Friday — A thief broke a window and stole a black, cloth purse that was on the driver’s seat of a vehicle on Schantz Road in Prospect. The purse, which had money, was stolen between midnight and 8 a.m.2:19 p.m. June 29 — Two people were hurt when a sport utility vehicle driven by Lesley F. McGregor, 31, of Petrolia rear-ended a car on Route 68 at the Route 422 off-ramp in Summit Township.The driver of the car, James Scherrah, 65, and his a passenger, Karen Scherrah, 64, both of Butler, were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Both were wearing seat belts.McGregor was cited for having an expired inspection sticker.

State Police, ButlerToday — Police reported Jarred W. Irwin, 33, of Butler faces charges of driving under the influence stemming from a head-on crash last month in Oakland Township that left him seriously injured.Irwin apparently fell asleep and crossed the center lane on Route 38 near Spillway Lane, colliding with a tractor-trailer driven by Thomas Vrabely, 34, of Evans City.Irwin, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to an Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Vrabely was wearing a seat belt and was not hurt.

State Police, Kittanning10:50 a.m. Wednesday — A car driven by Matthew J. Cole, 21, of Canton, Bradford County, and a sport utility vehicle driven by Linda Killcrece, 63, of Freeport collided at Route 908 and the Route 28 off-ramp in Harrison Township, Allegheny County. Cole was cited for a stop sign violation.Wednesday — Gold jewelry, laptop computers and a pistol were stolen in a burglary at a home at Freeport and Edwards roads in South Buffalo Township. The break-in happened between 10 a.m. and 3:10 p.m. The stolen property is valued at $3,500. The house had about $400 in damage.

State Police, Mercer5 p.m. Wednesday — One person was hurt when a car driven by Katlyn E. Davis, 18, of Grove City struck a tree along rain-soaked Amsterdam Road in Liberty Township, Mercer County. Adam C. Miller, 19, of Volant, a passenger in the car, was taken to the Grove City Medical Center with minor injuries. He was wearing a seat belt. Davis was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
