Butler PoliceWednesday — A vehicle sometime overnight struck the side of the U.S. Post Office building on South Main Street. The driver drove away but left the vehicle’s damaged bumper behind. The building sustained only minor damage.Police said they later learned the suspected driver’s identity, Mandy Sue Brandon, 33, of Butler, who faces tickets for hit-and-run and driving without a license.Wednesday — Police filed criminal and other charges against Joseph P. Gaiser, 26, of Renfrew stemming from a traffic stop at 4:24 p.m. Sunday on West New Castle Street.Gaiser was stopped driving an unregistered vehicle with an illegal license plate, without insurance and with a suspended license, according to a police report. He was cited for those traffic code violations.Additionally, police said, a search of the vehicle after it was towed turned up a suspected glass marijuana pipe inside a child’s shoe as well as two syringes and a spoon. Gaiser also is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Butler Twp. PoliceTuesday — A self-propelled Lawn Boy push mower was stolen overnight from an Ellington Drive home in Meridian.

Grove City PoliceWednesday — Christopher Blake, 23, was cited for failing to keep his dog confined to his home on Dale Street. Police said the citation followed a complaint of his dog running loose.5:20 a.m. Sunday — An unknown would-be burglar tried to break into the Main Street Diner in the 1000 block of West Main Street. Anyone with information about the attempted burglary is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.

State Police, Butler1 a.m. Tuesday — John E. Knoll, 22, of Bruin was hurt when the car he was driving collided with a pickup truck on Bruin Road near Route 268 in Parker Township. Following the collision, according to a police report, the other driver fled, leaving behind the GMC Sierra truck.Police said Knoll, who suffered minor injuries, was cited for a lane violation.10:37 p.m. Monday — A pickup truck driven by Brett M. Lamison, 23, of Chicora crashed into a tree along Clearfield Road in Clearfield Township. Police said Lamison faces tickets for unspecified traffic violations.2:45 a.m. Saturday — An unidentified vehicle struck a mailbox along Route 38 in Washington Township. The unknown driver did not stop after the crash.10 p.m. Sept. 13 — Jesse E. Valensky, 25, of Renfrew was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his car struck an embankment and rolled over on Interstate 79 in Cranberry Township.

State Police, Clarion12:28 p.m. Tuesday — A car driven by William E. Beabout, 78, of East Brady struck a tree along Curllsville Road in Toby Township. Police said the crash happened when Beabout swerved the car to avoid a deer on the road.6:02 p.m. Monday — A pickup truck driven by Corey J. George, 31, of Jamestown, Mercer County, struck a ditch and rolled onto its roof on Interstate 80 in Allegheny Township, Butler County. Police said George was cited for careless driving.
