Leeberta D. Smith, 82, of Buffalo Township, passed away peacefully at 6 a.m. Saturday at her home.

Born Dec. 31, 1925, in Freeport, she was the daughter of Lee Sr. and Sarah (Jack) Johns.

After graduating from Freeport High School, she worked for the FBI for a brief time. She then worked as a cook in the dietary department at Allegheny Valley Hospital for 30 years, retiring in 1988.

Mrs. Smith loved to sew, crochet and do crafts. She had made her children and grandchildren wedding dresses, clothes and costumes. She enjoyed flower gardening and reading. Her greatest love was her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by three daughters, Judy (James) McAleavey of Espyville, Nancy (Albert) Crilley of Tarentum, and Paula (Charles) Sovitsky of Buffalo Township; a son, Robert (Paula) Smith Jr. of Allegheny Township; five grandsons, David (Rita) Koedel, Brad (Jen) Koedel, Robert W. (Desire) Smith III, Paul (Susan) Smith and Matthew Sovitsky; and her ex-husband, Robert W. Smith Sr. of Tarentum. She also is survived by her seven great-grandsons and two stepgreat-granddaughters; a brother, George Johns of South Buffalo Township and a sister, Ruth (Tony) McCall of Natrona Heights.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, James H. and Lee Johns Jr.; and two sisters, Mae Jones and Ella Eshenbaugh.

Smith, who died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, are invited to call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the <B>Redmond Funeral Home,</B> 524 High St. Freeport.A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev.
