SRU’s Sanchez gains academic honors
SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University senior women’s tennis player Adriana Gonzalez Sanchez has been named to the 2023 College Sports Commuicators Academic All-America team.
A dual physics and mathematics major, Sanchez maintained a 4.0 grade point average throughout her academic career. On the court, she earned first team All-PSAC honors in singles and doubles.
A-C Valley grad McNany gets special award
ERIE — A-C Valley graduate and Penn State Behrend senior women’s softball player Cami McNany has been named to the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s All-Sportsmanship Team for this spring.
Student-athletes are selected based on demonstrating a high level of ethical conduct, respect and fair play in both practice and competition, toward teammates, coaches, opponents, officials and fans.
Bresnahan victorious in harness racing
WASHINGTON, Pa. — Four Wide N Flyin, trained by Nathan Bresnahan of Butler,, won an $11,800 Filly & Mare Conditioned Pace during harness racing action Thursday at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.
The 3-year-old filly is owned by Michael and Rachel Bresnahan, both of Evans City.
Mars students join Ninja Championships
ADAMS TWP — Three Mars Area School District students have qualified for the 2023 World Ninja League Championships, to be held June 23-25 in Greensboro, N.C.
Seventh-grader Kohlee Edwards completed six obstacles in the Preteen Female division at the World Ninja League Midwest Regional in Columbus, Ohio. Fourth-grader Maci Kotula trains at Steel City Ninja and qualified in the Mouse Trap in the Mature Kids Female division at the Midwest Regional.
Second-grader Tanner McKenna trails at Steel City Ninja and qualified after completing 13 obstacles in the Kids Male division at the Arnold Ninja Classic Youth in Columbus, Ohio.
