Middlesex police charge trio with felonies

Alleged drug deal gone bad

An alleged drug deal gone sour in Middlesex Township has resulted in arrest warrants for three non-county residents.

Gregory W. Lambert Jr., 27, of Vandergrift, a 19-year-old man from Allegheny County and a 29-year-old woman from South Carolina have been charged with multiple felonies related to a suspected Jan. 17 drug deal involving pills.

Lambert was arrested Thursday, and warrants have been issued for the other two. Lambert is in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $30,000 bond.

Police have requested that the names of the other two suspects not be released.

According to charging documents, Middlesex Township police on Jan. 22 interviewed two victims — a male and female — at their home on Route 8 regarding a burglary.

The victims allegedly told police that around 10 a.m. on Jan. 17, they were in the middle of a deal involving pills, when a fight ensued between the two victims and three defendants.

The fight, the victims recounted, started over the female victim's handgun that was concealed beneath a couch pillow, police said. While the pills were being counted, the teenage defendant allegedly reached for the stashed gun, and the male victim reached to stop him.“When (the victim) did this, Lambert Jr. hit (the victim) in the back of the head with a pistol that he had in his possession,” documents said.Lambert has been convicted of multiple felonies involving guns and drugs since 2013, and he is prohibited from owning a gun, under state law.According to documents, the female victim tried to help, but Lambert pushed her away. The 29-year-old woman then allegedly grabbed the female victim and pulled her into a bedroom. The woman has been awaiting trial for felony and misdemeanor drug charges filed in 2017 in Westmoreland County, court records show.During the struggle for the gun, Lambert allegedly placed a pistol to the male victim's stomach and threatened him before hitting the victim repeatedly in the head with the gun, until he dropped to the ground and complied.Lambert is accused of pointing the gun at the female victim's head and telling her to sit in the chair. He then allegedly took all of the pills, $800 in cash, a cell phone, iPad and Airpods belonging to the male victim. The documents said before leaving, Lambert ordered the pair of victims to empty their pockets, then he grabbed the female victim by the arm and held a gun to her while the three suspects backed out of the home's door and down a stairwell.According to the documents, Lambert released the female victim upon leaving the building, and the three defendants entered two vehicles and left the scene. All three are charged with felony counts of robbery, aggravated assault, receiving stolen property, theft and criminal conspiracy as well as misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment and terroristic threats to another person.District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Lambert on charges Thursday. His preliminary hearing is set Feb. 24.
