Butler Police

Sunday — Justin W. Charlton, 32, was arrested after police found a suspected marijuana grow operation at his home in the 300 block of East Locust Street.

The operation was discovered after police obtained a search warrant for the home. Police said they found nine marijuana plants, grow lights, chemicals and other drug contraband, according to court documents.

Charlton was arraigned on charges of manufacturing a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and he was placed in the Butler County Prison on $25,000 bail.

Thursday — Police charged Alan M. Jackson, 24, of Butler with drunken driving stemming from a March 12 crash on East Jefferson Street. Police said Jackson shortly before 12:20 a.m. struck a vehicle in the Monroe Hotel parking lot and did not immediately stop.

A breath test later showed his blood-alcohol was 0.209 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

In addition to driving under the influence, Jackson is charged with driving without a license and hit-and-run.

Additionally, police said Christopher W. Anthony, 24, of Butler, a passenger in Jackson’s car, became unruly and was cited for public drunkenness.

Monday — Police charged Brittny Macklin, 22, of Butler with drunken driving stemming from a traffic stop about 10:47 p.m. March 11 on Old Plank Road. In addition to driving under the influence, Macklin is charged with careless driving and driving with faulty tires.Grove City PoliceMonday — About six vehicles were egged in the 100 and 200 blocks of Park Street between 9 p.m. Sunday and 1 a.m. Monday.More vehicles also were egged in the 500 block of Woodland Avenue, the 300 block of Harvard Avenue and the 1000 block of Sunset Avenue.1:56 a.m. Saturday — Devin Leland Gilmore, 19, of Grove City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of marijuana, possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and driving without headlights.8:30 a.m. Friday — Sheila L. Mulholland, 20, of Grove City was arrested after a reported domestic dispute at her home on North Center Street. Mulholland is charged with simple assault and harassment. She is free on $15,000 bail.State Police, ButlerFriday — Shawn P. Barncastle, 40, of Emlenton, Venango County, faces felony and other charges in connection with two bogus checks he passed in November to buy $350 worth of items at the Rummy Mart on South Main Street in Chicora, police said. He is charged with theft by unlawful taking and theft by deception, both felonies, and bad checks, a misdemeanor.State Police, Mercer4:20 p.m. Monday — A 13-year-old girl was accidentally shot in the stomach with a BB gun on Tieline Road in Pine Township. The girl, who police did not identify, was treated at Grove City Medical Center and released. Police provided no other details about the shooting.11:25 p.m. Thursday — A car driven by James M. Reed, 35, of Grove City struck a guardrail along Airport Road in Liberty Township. Reed fled the scene after the crash, according to a police report.Police cited Reed for driving at an unsafe speed, hit-and-run, failing to immediately report an accident to police and failing to stop and give information or render aid.
