Robert Charles Macklin, 66, of Butler died Saturday afternoon at his home.

Born March 9, 1943, in Olean, N.Y., he was a son of the late Raymond and Arlene (Johnson) Macklin.

Robert had worked as a journeyman boilermaker for Local 154 in Pittsburgh for 40 years until he retired in June 2002.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 530 in Olean, N.Y., and had enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling.

A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served with the U.S. Navy.

Surviving are two sons, Steven E. Macklin of Butler and Shawn P. Macklin and his wife, Sharon, of East Butler; four grandchildren, Brittny T. Macklin, Matthew Wagner, Elizabeth Toner and Sarah Howell, all of Butler; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; two brothers, Kenneth Macklin and his wife, Patricia, of Butler and James Macklin of Olean; and two sisters, Hazel Macklin and Kay Cooney and her husband, Don, all of Olean.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonita L. "Bonny" (Brockel) Macklin, who he married May 8, 1964. She died July 16, 2001.

<B>Macklin </B>—<B> </B>Friends of Robert Charles Macklin, who died Saturday, March 6, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Jeff Miller will officiate.
