NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Three-time NFL Most Valuable Player Peyton Manning and six-time All-Pro Ray Lewis headlined The Associated Press 2008 NFL All-Pro team announced Friday, but 15 first-timers stole the show.

The only unanimous selection by a nationwide panel of 50 sportswriters and broadcasters who cover the NFL was safety Ed Reed, Lewis' teammate in Baltimore. Steelers safety Troy Polamalu also is on the squad.

Among the first-timers are Pittsburgh linebacker James Harrison, the AP Defensive Player of the Year; end Justin Tuck of the New York Giants; and inside linebacker Jon Beason of Carolina.

The slew of new All-Pros on offense included running backs Michael Turner of Atlanta and Adrian Peterson of Minnesota; fullback Le'Ron McClain of Baltimore; and wideouts Larry Fitzgerald of Arizona and Andre Johnson of Houston.

PITTSBURGH (— The Pittsburgh Penguins say forward Ruslan Fedotenko will miss four to six weeks with a broken right hand.Fedotenko injured his hand less than two minutes into Tuesday night's game against the Atlanta Thrashers in a one-punch fight against former Penguins player Colby Armstrong.Fedotenko decked Armstrong with the punch, although Fedotenko rarely fights.The Penguins say Fedotenko has been placed on injured reserve.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Dave Roberts, a left-handed pitcher who played for the 1979 World Series champion Pittsburgh Pirates during a 13-year career in the majors, died of lung cancer Friday. He was 64.Roberts died at his home in Short Gap, according to his wife, Carol, and stepdaughter Kristy Rogan.Roberts went 103-125 with a 3.78 ERA for eight teams, beginning in 1969 with the San Diego Padres and ending in 1981 with the New York Mets.The Pirates got him from the San Francisco Giants in a five-player trade in June 1979 that also sent Bill Madlock to Pittsburgh. Roberts went 5-2 for the Pirates and made one relief appearance in the NL championship series that season.

Knoch graduate Josh Bzorek, a senior guard at Edinboro, was named first-team, Football Gazette All-Super Region One Team.Slippery Rock University sophomore center Brandon Fusco, a Seneca Valley graduate, and punter Kyle Witman were named to the third team.Witman averaged 42.5 yards per punt last season.

ALTOONA— Mars High football coach and athletic director Scott Heinauer will coach the West squad in the ninth annual Pennsylvania State Football Coaches Association East-West All-Star Game at 6 p.m. June 19 at Mansion Park in Altoona.Heinauer has led the Planets to four section championships, 13 WPIALplayoff appearances and the WPIALClass AAchampionship game. He has been secretary of the PSFCAfor 12 years.Slippery Rock High coach Clyde Conti, who recently resigned, will be an assistant coach for the West squad.
