Marjorie Dawe Campbell Silverio, 83, a lifelong resident of Chicora, sadly passed away at 10:55 p.m. Thursday in Butler Memorial Hospital surrounded by her beloved family.

Born on the family farm in Chicora, now Medical Center Road, on July 2, 1925, she was the daughter of Warren W. Campbell and Dorothy Dawe Campbell of Chicora.

A 1943 graduate of Millerstown High School in Chicora, she received her degree in education from Slippery Rock State Teacher's College in 1946 and attended the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colo., during the summer of 1947.

She began her teaching career in the Mars School District, where she taught for 13 years. She later taught in the Butler School District for 36 years, retiring after 49 years of teaching on June 8, 1995.

Mrs. Silverio was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Chicora.

She loved her family dearly, teaching, and the little boys and girls whom she taught. She will be remembered for her love of traveling and her visits to London, Paris and Scotland to visit her brother, retired Rear Adm. Norman D. Campbell and his family during naval assignments and her summer visits to the Richard K. Campbell family in Florida. She visited most of the 50 states during her lifetime, traveling with her sister, Doris Price.

Surviving are two sisters, Doris A. Price and Sharon L. Fritch and her husband, Wilbert, all of Chicora; two brothers, retired Rear Adm. Norman D. Campbell and his wife, Barbara, of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Richard K. Campbell and his wife, Mayre, of Jacksonville, Fla.; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Campbell of Chicora.

Also surviving are her beloved nieces and nephews, Ellen Kay Campbell and her husband, Kirby, of Butler, Elaine K. Kusick and her husband, Bill, of Chicora, Heather H. Lattin and her husband of Ventura, Calif., Erin E. Campbell of Creston, Ohio, Sister Marie Andre and Sister Marie St. Paul, both of Clack Canyon City, Ariz., Christopher W. Campbell and his wife, Barbara, of Warner Robbins, Ga., Shawn A. Campbell and his wife, Carol, Scarlett Dyer and her husband, James, of Jacksonville Fla., Eric J. Fritch and his wife, Angie, of Chicora, and Amber C. Ridgley and her husband, Kenneth, of Shrewsburg, Pa.

Also surviving are her beloved grandnieces and grandnephews, who were an important part of her life, Kelly K. Campbell of South Carolina, Dr. Kristen K. Campbell and her husband, Funovits, of Gibsonia, Kimberly K. Sundie and her husband, Daniel, of Butler, Dr. Karissa N. Kusick of Cleveland, Ohio, Joseph W. Kusick of Philadelphia, Brendan, Bryant, Ben and Brett Buzzelli of Ohio, Liam Lattin of California, Abigail M. Campbell and Alec M. Campbell of Warner Robbins, Ga., Campbell M. Dyer and Grayson L. Dyer of Jacksonville, Fla., Chloe N. Fritch of Chicora, Campbell L. Ridgley of Shrewsburg, Pa., and her great-grand-nephew, Koen M. Sundie of Butler.

Mrs. Silverio was preceded in death by her husband, Pietro "Pete" Silverio, who died on Aug. 8, 1994; her parents; and her brother, Larry D. Campbell, who died Jan. 15, 1994.

<B>SILVERIO — </B>Friends of Marjorie Dawe Campbell Silverio, who died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the <B>STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME,</B> 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora. A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2217 Chicora Road, Chicora, with funeral services following at noon. Burial will be in the Hemphill Cemetery in Chicora.
