Cranberry waterline repairs underway

Expect delays on Route 19, northbound

Repairs on a Cranberry Township waterline break are underway according to township manager Dan Santoro.

“They’re working to excavate the break and begin repair as we speak,” Santoro said.

A pipe broke along Route 19 between Dutilh Road and Smith Road on Wednesday afternoon, May 3, Santoro said, leaving many of the businesses on the eastern side of the break without water.

Santoro said public works crews have closed the northbound right lane along the break while work continues.

“We do expect delays around rush hour,” Santoro said. “We’re advising folks to take alternate routes if they can.”

As of 2 p.m., Santoro said the cause of the break is still unknown.

“They won’t really know until they dig it up,” he said.

According to Santoro, work is expected to continue into the night as crews excavate and repair the damaged section.
