SR’s Prementine breaks record

Levi Prementine’s school-record long jump of 22 feet, 8 inches was the highlight of the Slippery Rock boys track and field team’s dominating wins over George Junior Republic (131-10) and Franklin 102½-47½ on Tuesday.

The Rocket girls defeated Franklin 117-27, with Aiva Reich winning both hurdle events.

Moniteau’s Jenna Zendron won the 100-meter dash and 400 run, along with running a leg on the winning 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams as the Warriors cruised past Union/A-C Valley, 100-40, in girls track and field action on Tuesday.

In the boys meet, the Falcon Knights swept the field events — Landon Chalmers taking the shot put and discus — as Union/A-C Valley defeated Moniteau 107-43.

Softball

Lexie Hames fanned 15 and allowed just one hit in Seneca Valley’s 5-1 win against Mt. Lebanon Tuesday afternoon.

She also hit a two-run home run while Lily Hicks drove in two runs for the Raiders, who improved to 6-0 with the victory.

Karns City 11, Cranberry 1 — Jada Polczynski and Jessica Dunn both totaled three hits on the day as Karns City downed Cranberry in six innings at home. Addison Burrows also had a mulit-hit performance and pushed across two runs.

Boys Volleyball

Coleton Welter tallied 15 kills, Alex Moncello had 32 assists and Adam Kaufman 20 digs in Butler’s 3-0 sweep at Seton LaSalle.

The Golden Tornado (6-2) earned the non-section win by scores of 25-20, 25-16 and 25-20.

Shaler 3, Seneca Valley 0 — The Raiders fell to the Titans by scores of 25-16, 25-23 and 25-20.

Grant Hoover led SV with 15 kills, Matt Cinker had 16 digs and Steve Mazur dished out 17 assists.

Baseball

Indiana 6, Knoch 4 — Mason Phillips had two hits and drove in a run while Jacob Stallsmith tripled and scored, but the Knights (2-7, 1-2) allowed a pair of runs to Indiana in the top of the seventh in this loss at Pullman Park.

For the Indians, Ben Ryan went 3-for-4 and drove in four runs.
