5-car Norfolk Southern train derails in Pittsburgh
Cars reported empty, caused no injuries
A five-car Norfolk Southern train derailed Saturday morning in Pittsburgh, but the cars were empty, and there were no hazards or injuries reported, authorities said.
Pittsburgh Public Safety issued an alert Saturday afternoon about the derailment, which happened in the area of Telford and West Carson streets.
Public safety crews were called to the area just before 1 p.m., and police were called for traffic control while Norfolk Southern workers operated equipment in the area to remove the train cars. West Carson Street closed between Corliss Tunnel and McKees Rocks Plaza during the afternoon so crews could correct the derailment, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety.
