Cellist Arron plays in symphony's debut

Edward Arron, guest artist for the Butler County Symphony Orchestra's “Opening Night” concert, will perform Dvorák's “Cello Concerto” Oct. 5 with the orchestra.

BUTLER TWP — The Butler County Symphony Orchestra will open its 65th season with “Opening Night” Oct. 5 in the Butler Intermediate High School auditorium.

The concert featuring cellist Edward Arron will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Music director and conductor Matthew Kraemer will present a pre-concert lecture at 6:30 p.m. It will include snippets of the music to be performed.

Selections for the concert include “Academic Festival Overture” by Brahms and “Appalachian Spring” by Copland.

As the guest artist, Arron will perform Dvorák's “Cello Concerto” with the orchestra.

A native of Cincinnati, he made his New York recital debut in 2000 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Since then, he has appeared in recitals, as a soloist with orchestras, and as a chamber musician throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.

Arron is a graduate of the Juilliard School and serves on the faculty of New York University.
