A Butler man plans to file a lawsuit against Butler County, city of Butler, the city, Butler police, the police chief and two officers, according to documents filed in county court last week.

The filings by James A. Cogley of South Washington Street are preliminary and do not include specific allegations. A civil cover sheet was filed with the county prothonotary’s office on Oct. 10. Cogley, who in court documents says he intends to represent himself, references “invasion of privacy” and “excessive force,” and says he intends to ask for monetary damages.

In the court filings Cogley names Butler County, Butler city, Butler police, Chief Ron Brown, Sgt. Ronald Fundark and officer Douglas Mazzanti as defendants in the lawsuit.
