Claire L. Hilderbrand, 86, formerly of Butler, died Saturday at the Alle-Kiski Medical Center.

Born Dec. 19, 1921, in Butler, she was the daughter of Charles E. and Clara Lehnerd Neigh.

Claire was a resident of the Saxony Health Center Assisted Living for the past year. Prior to that, she lived at the Butler Arbor Apartments.

Claire was a homemaker, mother and grandmother. As a young lady, she worked at the shell shop in Butler during World War II.

Mrs. Hilderbrand was a member of St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church in Carbon Center. She was also a member of AARP, the Tanglewood Senior Center, the East Butler VFD auxiliary, and was a lifetime member of the Happy Hunter Sportsmen's Club in Fenelton. She also enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and reading.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Carol Green of Butler and Mrs. Wayne (Joyce) Schiebel of Natrona Heights; a sister, Sister Barbara Neigh of Holy Family Convent in Lawrenceville; four grandchildren, Mrs. Angela (Des) Schnur of Butler, Adam Green of Butler, Craig Schiebel and his wife, Jennifer, of Lower Burrell, and Mrs. Dana Thimons and her husband, Michael, of Slippery Rock; five great-grandchildren, Cody and Allison Schnur, Abigail and Jacob Schiebel, and Ella Thimons.

Her husband, Andrew G. Hilderbrand, preceded her in death on Oct. 18, 1979. Four brothers, Joseph, Leonard, Charles, and Alfred Neigh, also preceded her in death.

<B>HILDERBRAND </B>— Friends of Claire L. Hilderbrand, who died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church in Carbon Center. Burial will follow in St. Wendelin's Cemetery.The family would like to thank Alle-Kiski Medical Center Nursing Units 1A and 2A and the Saxony Health Center for their wonderful nursing care and compassion.
