Pittsburgh man sentenced to prison in drug case
A Pittsburgh man was sentenced Thursday, Feb. 9, to serve 24 to 48 months in state prison after pleading guilty to a drug charge, and he will not be prosecuted in a second drug case as part of a plea agreement.
Rico Hakeem Scott, 32, of Pittsburgh was sentenced in accordance with the plea agreement in county Common Pleas Court by Judge Kelley Streib.
Scott pleaded guilty to a felony charge of contraband filed by county drug task force detectives following a March 31, 2022, incident. He was arrested April 19.
Before the sentence was imposed, defense attorney Armand Cingolani described Scott as intelligent and a “worthwhile being” who will change if given the opportunity.
He was charged with three felony counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and one count of contraband, and misdemeanor charges of tampering with evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Scott was being held in the county prison in lieu of $2,500 bail in that case and $25,000 bail in the second drug case.
In the second case, Butler City police charged Scott with two felony counts of possession with intent to deliver and a related felony charge of conspiracy following a Jan. 13, 2022, incident.
Assistant District Attorney Patricia McLean said Scott would not be prosecuted for the second case as part of a plea agreement.
