3:01 p.m. Sunday — Police arrested Hawyard Smith III, 53, of Butler, a fugitive wanted on theft-related charges in Chester County. Smith, charged with being a fugitive from justice, was placed in the Butler County Prison.Sunday — Police nabbed three runaways from Summit Academy reform school in Summit Township. The youths, who police did not identify, are accused of stealing items from cars parked in the city.The first boy was caught about 3:20 a.m. breaking into a car on Cross Street. Officers found the boy with a knife, coins and four lighters he admitted he had stolen from vehicles, a police report said.The second boy was caught soon after and close by where officers found him hiding under the bumper of a car. He admitted he had stolen the sweatshirt he was wearing.About 5:15 a.m., officers arrested the third boy, who was wearing a stolen pair of jeans and a sweatshirt.Police charged the boys in the juvenile court with theft from a vehicle, receiving stolen property and conspiracy. The suspects were returned to Summit Academy.Saturday — Kristine Snyder reported someone overnight stole a plastic bird feeder and two large copper shields for the feeder from the backyard of her East Walnut Street home. The stolen property is valued at $125.Saturday — An unknown vandal marked the back of a building at Butler Technologies on West Wayne Street with graffiti.2:12 p.m. Friday — William Pint, 42, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence after a hit-and-run crash on South Chestnut Street. In addition to DUI, Pint was cited for leaving the scene of an accident.Thursday — Gregory P. Mazzanti, 26, of Butler faces theft and drug charges after his arrest for allegedly shoplifting merchandise at the Kmart store in Pullman Square and the A-Plus store on West Jefferson Street.Butler County sheriff deputies caught Mazzanti about 10:15 a.m., shortly after police got the shoplifting call at the A-Plus. Officers found Mazzanti with stolen merchandise from Kmart, as well as unspecified pills and drug-related contraband. They learned he was wanted on a warrant.Mazzanti is charged with two counts of retail theft and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

5:35 p.m. Sunday — Donna L. Nellis, 42, of Zelienople was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after her car and a motorcycle collided on Route 19 in Lancaster Township. Ernest Pellin Jr., 49, the motorcycle driver, and his passenger, Darlene Pellin, 47, both of North Jackson, Ohio, suffered minor injuries.Sunday — A Toro weed trimmer, two General Electric heater/air conditioners, about 25 new car mufflers and about one dozen each of new bug shields for vehicles and moonvisors for trucks were stolen in a burglary at 1599 Perry Highway in Portersville.Jerome Kern of Portersville owns the property that was taken between Oct. 5 and Sunday.8:41 p.m. Saturday — David Allen Butler, 41, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of DUI at Route 68 and Somple Lane in Oakland Township.1:30 p.m. Friday — Mark Steven Walter, 26, of Butler was hurt when the motorcycle he was driving crashed on Whitestown Road near Dick Road in Connoquenessing Township. Walter, who suffered minor injuries, was cited for an inspection violation.

5:08 a.m. Monday — Police were called to an attempted burglary at M&M Pizza in Rimersburg. The business apparently was not entered, and the case remains under investigation.Monday — A 20-year-old Rimersburg man is suspected of stealing about $200 worth of alcohol and beef jerky after breaking into Doc's Tavern in Toby Township. Police did not identify the suspect in the burglary that occurred between 4 and 5 a.m.

Monday — An unknown burglar made off with $8,470 in a bank bag taken from a locked office at the Springfield Grille on Route 19 in Springfield Township. The burglary occurred between 11:30 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. Monday.Monday — Two Grove City residents, who authorities did not identify, are suspected of passing 10 bad checks between June and July at Rudy's Bar and Restaurant on Mercer Grove City Road in Findley Township. The suspects face theft and bad checks charges in the case, which remains under investigation.6:49 p.m. Wednesday — Four people were hurt when acar driven by a 17-year-old Grove City boy struck the rear of a minivan, which had stopped for a deer on North Liberty Road in Liberty Township.Jennifer J. Turner, 33, of Slippery Rock, who was driving the van, and three of her passengers, Justin C. Turner, 30, and two children, all of Slippery Rock, were treated at Grove City Medical Center for minor injuries.The teen, who was not identified, was not hurt.
