Butler indoor track shines at TSTCA meet

Megan Baggetta won the triple jump and placed second in the long jump and Butler’s boys won the 4x200 meter and 4x400 meter relay events Saturday at the Tri-State Track Coaches Association indoor track and field meet Saturday at Edinboro University.

Baggetta won the triple jump with a leap of 36 feet. Christopher Rubcic, David Graef, Mark Klemz and Landon Lacey won the 4x200 in 1 minute, 35.19 seconds. The Golden Tornado’s 4x400 relay of Aatron Stebick, Drew Knight, Griffin Bauer and Lacey won in 3:36.49.

There were 60 schools competing. Butler heads to the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio, this Saturday for the Ohio Scholastic Showcase Meet.

Slippery Rock traveled to Youngstown State for its second indoor meet of the season. Tyler Arblaster won the boys 400 meters in 51.72 seconds, breaking his own school indoor record. He also placed eighth in the 200 meters, snapping his own school mark again with a 23.52.

Eli Anderson placed sixth in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.17 seconds and Dustin Joyce was sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 39 feet, 1 inch, for the Rockets.

Girls Basketball

Annalyn Isaacs sored 11 points for Mars as the Planets cruised past Moon, 53-18, on Saturday. Moon did not score in the first quarter.

Mars had a 33-6 lead at halftime.

Boys Basketball

Chason Delarosa-Rugg scored 14 points and Aydan Jackson added 12 as Moniteau scored a 49-40 home win over Punxsutawney.

Noah Kengersky led the Chucks with 13 points. The Warriors outscored Punxsutawney 30-18 in the second half to grab the win.

Seneca Valley 66, Latrobe 60 — Connor Oros and Tyler Pepin scored 14 points each as the Raiders secured this non-section victory at Chatham University. Andrew Roy netted 12 points and Luke Lawson added 10.

John Wetzel scored 15 points for Latrobe, which trailed by one entering the fourth quarter.
