V. Jean Rostas

V. Jean Rostas, 85, of Harmony Road, Slippery Rock, died at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Grove City Medical Center.

She was born in Grove City on Feb. 24, 1923, the daughter of Charles H. Fryman Sr. and Lida (McClintock) Orr Fryman.

She was a 1940 graduate of Grove City High School and attended Grove City College. She was a secretary in the science department of Slippery Rock University, retiring in 1983 after 13 years. Prior to that, she worked at Satec and Cooper-Bessemer in Grove City.

She was a member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church in Slippery Rock, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and served as president of the Missionary Society.

Rostas is survived by a brother, Charles H. Fryman Jr. and his wife, Margaret, of Harrisville; two sisters, Nancy L. Stowe and her husband, James, of Eau Claire, and L. Joanne Campbell and her husband, Merle, of Harrisville; a daughter, Amy J. Vachon and her husband, Michael J., of Rockville, Md.; a grandson, Michael P. Vachon and a granddaughter, Julie A. Vachon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Rostas, who she married Nov. 19, 1942, and who died Jan. 27, 2006; a sister, Mary Williams and a brother, Carl Fryman.

<B>ROSTAS</B> — Friends of V. Jean Rostas, who died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at <B>JAMISON FUNERAL HOME</B>, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Diane L. Whitman of Bethel Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park in Grove City.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Presbyterian Church, 877 Franklin Road, Slippery Rock, PA 16057.
