12:18 a.m. Monday — Branden M. Spare, 21, of Butler was arrested after allegedly assaulting his sister during a domestic dispute at a Valley Street home. Spare was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.Monday — Police charged two Slippery Rock women with shoplifting more than $1,000 in merchandise from the Kohl's store in the Butler Crossing Plaza. The suspects, Brittney Heather, 21, and Meghan Hone, 21, are charged with retail theft.9:37 a.m. Sunday — Dave Hobai, 48, of Pittsburgh was arrested on felony retail theft charges after he was caught allegedly shoplifting at the Bilo store in Point Plaza. Hobai was placed in the Butler County Prison after police learned he was wanted for a parole violation.7 p.m. Nov. 14 — Unknown would-be burglars tried to break-into a house in the 100 block of Campbell Avenue once the homeowner had left. A witness reported seeing a late-1990s to early-2000s model, dull gray, at or near the home at the time of the attempted burglary.Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-285-9600.
8:20 a.m. Monday — No one was injured but two people were cited for traffic violations in a three-vehicle crash on Route 422 in Clearfield Township. The crash occurred when sport utility vehicles driven by Thomas Brody, 38, of Blairsville in Indiana County and Joyce A. Stahlman, 33, of Chicora passed a car.During the pass, Brody's SUV sideswiped the car driven by Malcolm Shpakoff, 66, of Clarion. Stahlman's SUV then hit Brody's vehicle. Police said Brody and Stahlman were cited for driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving.Saturday — An explosive device destroyed a mailbox at a home on Euclid School Road in Clay Township. The explosion also burned several items of mail that were in the mail box.Police said they recovered evidence from the scene of the crime that happened between noon Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday.The incident appears to be related to Friday's vandalism at the Clay Township Municipal Park that happened when some type of explosive device was set off, destroying a portable toilet.Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.2:40 a.m. Friday — Police recovered a crossbow, camera and other items taken from unlocked vehicles on Cleveland Street in West Kittanning, Armstrong County. A police news release did not say if there are any suspects in the thefts.Anyone who may be missing property from his or her vehicle, meanwhile, is asked to call the Kittanning barracks at 724-543-2011.
5:35 a.m. Monday — A pickup truck driven by Larry C. Piper, 65, of Sligo, Clarion County, struck a deer on Interstate 80 just east of Route 208 in Clinton Township, Venango County.
