Butler had a 3-1 lead with 1:33 left in regulation against Hempfield on Monday, but surrendered two goals after the Spartans pulled their goaltender. The Golden Tornado eventually lost, 4-3, in overtime. Caden Horton scored the winning goal 46 seconds into the extra session.
Jack Johnson, Adam Deal and Owen Denny scored goals for Butler. Brayden Hardsock had a pair of assists. Goalie EJ Delaney made 37 saves.
Butler plays Bishop McCort at 8 p.m. Feb. 2 at trhe Cambria County War Memorial.
