John S. 'Grouch' Fauset
John S. "Grouch" Fauset, 78, of Worthington died Monday at ACMH in Kittanning.
He was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on Dec. 25, 1929, the son of the late John R. Fauset Jr. and Edna Allshouse Fauset.
Mr. Fauset was a retired corporal with the Pennsylvania State Police, where he served from 1954 to 1989 as a member of Troop D, which includes the Kittanning, Rochester, Mercer, Butler, New Castle and Warrendale barracks.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Navy, where he served on the U.S.S. Philippines.
Mr. Fauset was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Worthington.
He was a 1949 graduate of Duquesne High School and a member of the Retired Pennsylvania State Police Breakfast Club, the Worthington American Legion Post 828, the American Legion Honor Guard, the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 54 PSP in Butler and a Kittanning Elks Lodge 203.
He was also a member of the Duquesne and McKeesport F&AM Lodge 731, the Scottish Rite Body of New Castle, the Syria Temple of Pittsburgh, the U.S.S. Philippines Seas CV47 Association, the Retired PSP Trooper Association Pin Club and the American Association of State Troopers.
His hobby was model trains.
Mr. Fauset is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peggy" Kemp Fauset, to whom he was married for 45 years; two daughters, Susan M. Fauset and Barbara Jo Fauset, both of Worthington; a son, John S. Fauset and his wife, Cheryl, of Worthington; two grandchildren, Kacey and Lauren Fauset of Worthington; a sister, Claire Pirl of North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and an adopted daughter, Samantha Wonderling of Kittanning.
<B>FAUSET — </B>Friends of John S. "Grouch" Fauset, who died Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>F. DUANE SNYDER FUNERAL HOME</B> in Worthington. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Worthington, with an additional hour of visitation one hour prior to the service at the church, the Rev. Nola Eisenbrandt, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Worthington Lutheran Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to the Orphans of the Storm or the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Worthington.
