Tuesday — Police charged Alyssa C. Showman, 25, of Butler for allegedly bouncing four checks between Feb. 22 and 28 at Friedman's market on West Brady Street. The checks totaled $223.26. Showman is charged with bad checks.11:50 a.m. Tuesday — Bradly Keith Burnside, 19, no known address, is accused of forcing open a secure door at a West Jefferson Street apartment building, and going inside. He initially refused to leave.By the time police got there he had gone, but he returned and allegedly began yelling obscenities at police and the landlord.Burnside was arraigned on a felony count of trespass as well as disorderly conduct, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.
4:38 p.m. Monday — Vincent Nielsen, 40, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his sport utility vehicle backed into a parked car on Bessemer Avenue in Lyndora. Nielsen also got two traffic tickets, including one for driving without a license. Genevieve Carr, 59, of Butler, a passenger in the SUV, was cited for public drunkenness.Monday — An unknown silver vehicle, possibly an Eagle Talon, overnight struck five mailboxes along East McQuistion Road and did not stop. The unknown hit-and-run vehicle would have damage to its passenger side.10:30 p.m. Sunday — A resident reported that a male in the bed of a small pickup truck was shooting paintballs at vehicles on Miller Street. Police did not find the paintball shooter on the street, only empty egg cartons.10:10 p.m. Sunday — Leila Ripoll, 29, and Jasen Whitacre, 32, both of Butler, are accused of taking a purse from a car at the Wal-Mart in Butler Commons. Both suspects are charged with theft from a vehicle, conspiracy and receiving stolen property.5:45 p.m. Sunday — An unknown white vehicle struck a SUV parked in front of the Old Country Buffet in Moraine Pointe Plaza and did not stop. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-285-9600.10:47 p.m. Friday — Jeffrey Scott Checkan, 41, of Butler was arrested following a domestic dispute. Checkan was arraigned on charges of simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,000 bail.9:15 p.m. Thursday — An SUV driven by Zachary Hinchberger, 18, of Butler crashed into an embankment and rolled onto its side on Bullcreek Road.
6:17 a.m. Tuesday — Two people were hurt when a pickup truck driven by Cheryl A. Garvin, 49, of Cabot and a car driven by Philip W. King, 25, of East Brady, Clarion County, collided on Bonniebrook Road in Summit Township.Both drivers were treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for moderate injuries. Garvin was cited for failure to yield.Monday — A 2000 Yamaha Warrior all-terrain vehicle was stolen between 9 p.m. Sunday and 6:30 p.m. Monday from a field near Stoughton and Crestview roads in Slippery Rock Township. The ATV is blue with white graphics that read "N-STYLE" along both sides.Saturday — Two people were arrested for driving under the influence during a sobriety checkpoint between 11 p.m. Friday and 3 a.m. Saturday on Route 8 in Center Township.In all, 306 vehicles were stopped, and police also arrested two people on drug-related charges. Police issued six traffic tickets and 24 warnings.
