Knoch wins 2nd straight section game

Knoch may be picking the right time to find its game.

The Knights dropped eight of their first 10 games this season, but moved to 2-0 in section play Friday night with a 62-59 home boys basketball win over Indiana. Derek Lang scored 17 points and Teagan Finucan 14 for Knoch. They combined to sink nine treys.

Knoch (4-8, 2-0) led by as many as 10 points in the third quarter, but fell behind the Little Indians (5-6, 1-2) before winning the tight game in the fourth. Gasparo Porco sank a layup with seconds remaining to help the Knights hold on.

The Knights host Hampton Friday night.

Karns City 50, DuBois Area 48 — The Gremlins overcame a first half in which they scored just 12 points by outscoring the Beavers 38-21 in the final two quarters to earn this victory on the road Monday night.

Taite Beighley tallied 19 points and seven assists for the Gremlins (7-2), Jacob Callihan had 10 points and seven boards and Micah Rupp nine points, seven rebounds and four blocks.

Jordan Macurak scored 20 points and Chloe Fritch added 14 to lead Karns City to a 54-23 victory over Forest Area.

The Gremlins broke the game open by outscoring Forest 22-8 in the third quarter. That gave KC a 42-18 lead with eight minutes to play.
