Betty Lou Delmar
Betty Lou Delmar, 89, of Butler passed away Friday at the VNA Hospice in Butler, following an extended illness.
She was born Sept. 5, 1926, in Slippery Rock to Edmund Isaiah Smith and Martha Leona Badger Smith.
She married James Robert Delmar on March 15, 1974, and he survives at home in Butler. She had previously been married to Tommy Richard Stillwagon, who she married Nov. 29, 1946. He preceded her in death Jan. 19, 1973.
Betty Lou was a life-long Presbyterian and enjoyed music. She played cello in her high school honor's choir, and played piano and organ and sang in multiple community choirs. She had served as director for Christian education at the Presbyterian Church in Dothan, Ala., and later was a buyer for Troutman's in Butler.
She had been a member of the Garden Club in Dothan, a member of the Eastern Star and White Shrine, and she enjoyed golf. She loved spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, James, she is survived by two daughters, Dreama Lee Delmar and her husband, James N., of Murrysville, Pa., and Denise Lyn Brydon and her husband, S. Joseph, of Slippery Rock; her stepson, Lynn David Delmar and his wife, Charlene, of Pittsburgh; two sisters, Mildred J. Dawley of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Barbara J. Kennedy of Jacksonville, Fla.; her sister-in-law, Natalie G. Smith of Rochester, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Lisa Lyn Delmar, James Richard Delmar, Katie Lee Brydon (Joe) Hall, Adam Joseph (Jessica) Brydon and Alex Daniel Brydon; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tommy; her brother, Edmund Earl Smith; and her grandson, David Delmar.
DELMAR — The family of Betty Lou Delmar, who died Friday, July 15, 2016, will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. William Mumaw II, pastor of the Center Presbyterian Church, presiding.Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Pittsburgh.
