Reclamation Brewing Co., a new brewpub at 221 S. Main St., will open Sept. 16. It has been under construction since August 2014.
It will open at 4:30 p.m. with a ribbon cutting.
The brewpub will have 12 beers on tap, all of which are made on site and formulated by head brewer Ben Duncan. The brews will include year-round favorites, seasonal options, small-batch selections, and a rotating nitro tap.
In addition, Reclamation Brewing will have a menu of Irish pub fare and American sandwiches, desserts by Pennie's Bake Shop in Butler and wine from Narcisi Winery in Gibsonia.
It will be open Wednesday through Saturday.
BUTLER TWP — Butler Eye Care has brought in Dr. R.G. Witchey to the practice at 297 Evans City Road. He joins Dr. Michael McGrath, Dr. Jennifer McGrath and staff.Witchey is a graduate of Penn State University and The Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. He practiced in Natrona Heights, Lower Burrell, and the Alle-Kiski Valley area. He has extensive medical eye disease training.His services include primary eye care, emergency eye care, diabetic exams, foreign body removal, red eye treatment, and LASIK co-management.
BUTLER TWP — Jessica Matonak is the new interim director of Butler County Community College's communications and marketing department.Matonak, who has worked in the department for eight years, will remain in the interim position until the end of February.She began as a communications assistant and has been the assistant director of communications for the past six years.Susan Changnon, longtime communications director, retired in August.
CRANBERRY TWP — Rick Yarosz has been hired as director of sales and marketing at DoubleTree by Hilton Pittsburgh-Cranberry.The hotel, previously a Four Points by Sheraton, became a DoubleTree by Hilton when Prospera Hospitality took over management in January 2015.Yarosz oversees direct sales, marketing and advertising of the hotel. He also is responsible for directing the group sales, catering, banquets, wedding and revenue teams and for working with the hotel staff on customer service.Yarosz of Franklin Park has been director of sales and marketing at several hotels in the Pittsburgh area, including the Holiday Inn Pittsburgh Airport, Embassy Suites Pittsburgh Airport, Wyndham Pittsburgh Airport and Marriott Pittsburgh City Center.
MCCANDLESS, Allegheny County — S&T Bank has opened its second innovation center at McCandless Crossing, 9100 Covenant Avenue.The McCandless Innovation Center, which began construction in 2015, had its grand opening Sept. 3.The center has added technological features including a tech bar, digital showcase highlighting products and services, and Wi-Fi.
CENTER TWP — Deer Creek Winery had its grand re-opening Aug. 21 for the expansion of its store in the Clearview Mall.Beth Bollman, store manager, said the expanded store allows the return of the Coffee Grove that features gourmet coffees and pastries. It also serves hot dogs, nachos and a cheese plate. BUTLER TWP — Dollar General will celebrate the opening of its new location at 521 Evans City Road at 8 a.m. Sept. 12 with prizes and special deals.The first 50 adult shoppers will receive a $10 Dollar General gift card and the first 200 shoppers will receive a Dollar General tote bag, among other giveaways.Dollar General stores usually employ about six to 10 people.
NEW YORK — Kraft Heinz is expanding a recall of Kraft Singles products, saying a problem with the packaging film affects 10 times as many cases as it first thought.The company recalled 335,000 cases Thursday because a thin strip of packaging film may stick to the slice after the wrapper has been taken off, creating a choking hazard. Kraft Heinz recalled 36,000 cases on July 31 for the same reason.The company said it's received two new reports of choking. It disclosed three such reports in July, and said it had received seven other complaints about the packaging.The recall covers 1-, 3- and 4-pound Kraft Singles American and White American cheese product with “Best When Used by Dates” ranging from Dec. 12 to March 2. Consumers should return the product to the store for a refund.
• PennDOT and contractor Glenn O. Hawbaker were recently awarded an Asphalt Pavement Quality Award from the Pennsylvania Asphalt Pavement Association for their resurfacing project on Route 422 in Muddy Creek and Franklin townships and Prospect. Projects are evaluated on the smoothness of ride, the quality of pavement mix, joint and mat construction and innovative features. The $2.2 million project was done in 2014.
