Kenneth L. Artman
Kenneth L. Artman, 74, of McCormick, S.C., passed away peacefully at 6 a.m. Saturday at his home. He was a former resident of Buffalo Township, Sarver.
Ken was born in Monroe, Mich., Nov. 28, 1934, the son of the late Ira C. and Gladys (Schall) Artman.
He was a former member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeport and was a current member of the Lutheran Church by the Lake, McCormick, S.C.
Ken was a sergeant in the U.S. Army and served as a specialty radio operator.
After his service to his country, he graduated from Grove City College as an electrical engineer. He was an electrical engineer at Pittsburgh Paint & Glass, Cheswick, for 20 years and retired in 2000.
Ken was an avid boater and water skier for many years on the Allegheny River. He volunteered his time with the Power Squadron for Savannah Lakes, S.C.
He also was the editor in chief of the Laker newspaper in McCormick and enjoyed woodworking and carpentry projects in his home and community. He was very active on several construction crews for Habitat for Humanity.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 50 years, Phyllis Kay (Hilliard) Artman; two sons, David B. Artman of Roswell, Ga., and Thomas A. (Mari Lynn) Artman of Forest, Va.; and his daughter, Susan Artman-Hersperger of Woodlands, Texas. Ken also is survived by his grandchildren, Kasey and Alex Hersperger, Connor Clardy, and Sarah and Olivia Artman; his sister, Mildred Boyer of Schenectady, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Patricia Artman of Butler; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Edward and Audrey Sherman of Zelienople; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur Artman; and his grandson, Adam Artman.
