Addison Albert named Saturday

BUTLER TWP — Addison Albert was named Butler County’s 2017 Distinguished Young Woman Saturday at Butler County Community College’s Succop Theater.

Saturday’s event featured five contestants including Jessica Bishop, first runner-up.

All contestants were judged on personal interviews, scholastics, talent, fitness and self-expression. The contestants who scored highest won scholarships. They have all just finished their junior years in high school.

Addison will go on to compete in the state event in August in Johnstown. The state winner will go to the national program in Mobile, Ala., following her high school graduation in June 2017.

Addison is the daughter of Sam and Jodi Albert of Saxonburg. She attends Knoch High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society, student council and the class cabinet.

The five program judges were Ashley McCollum, Heather Pate, Joyce Heil, Stephanie Cicero and Jennifer Gilliland Vanasdale.

The event’s director was Mary Jo Grinder. The mistress of ceremonies was Kayla Molczan.

Jenna Molczan was the choreographer while AnneMarie Lowerre and Jordan Luntz were assistant choreographers.

Barbara Brandon was the chairwoman/producer.

The Distinguished Young Woman scholarship program was formerly called Junior Miss.
