Woman charged with hindering apprehension a second time
State police filed an additional charge Friday against a Slippery Rock woman for failing to report her boyfriend’s whereabouts to police — for a second time.
Tiffany L. Lowers, 35, was charged with felony hindering apprehension and is being held at Butler County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail.
Lowers also is facing charges of felonies burglary, theft and two counts of robbery in connection with an incident involving her boyfriend, Ryan A. Williams, 44, of Harrisville. She is being held in jail under a combined additional $60,000 bail for those other cases.
Police said on Dec. 14, they received an anonymous tip about a stolen vehicle parked at a Marion Township home.
Officers responded to the tip around 4:40 p.m. and found a 2019 Dodge Ram. The homeowner told police Williams was in possession of the vehicle and was inside the nearby home.
Lowers met police at the door a few minutes later and told them multiple times that Williams had left 20 minutes earlier.
Police said Williams was found in the living room of the residence.
In the recent case, Lowers’ preliminary hearing is set for Dec. 27 before District Judge Lewis Stoughton.
Earlier this week, state police filed other charges against Lowers and Williams for a string of incidents.
Police said around 5 a.m. on Dec. 3, Williams and Lowers entered a residence through a locked door. Williams reportedly threatened the homeowner with a hunting knife and restrained him with bed sheets. Lowers is accused of deleting content from the homeowner’s phone.
Police said they stole a Remington 870 pump action, 12-gauge shotgun and fled in a vehicle operated by Lowers.
Following the incident, Williams was placed in Butler County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail. Williams was later released, and state police filed charges in two additional cases against him.
Police asked for the public’s help in locating Williams, who also is charged with shooting at a Concord Township home with a stolen firearm, and they apprehended him on Tuesday evening using an anonymous tip. According to documents, Lowers was found with Williams.
Lowers told police she was aware of Williams’ active arrest warrants, but stayed with him at a Petrolia Borough residence while police sought him.
The two remained there until state troopers discovered them Tuesday.
As a result of this incident, Lowers was charged with misdemeanor hindering apprehension.
