Kennedy

Ray J. Kennedy, 91, of Franklin, formerly of Butler, and Portersville, died at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday in The Caring Place in Franklin.

Born June 17, 1918, in Bentleyville, Washington County, he was the son of the late John H. Kennedy and Hazel E. Rugh Kennedy.

Mr. Kennedy had been a plumber and steamfitter and belonged to the Plumbers and Steam Fitters Union Local 47 of Beaver. He retired in 1983.

Mr. Kennedy served with the U.S. Marines during World War II in the Pacific Theater and in the Caribbean area. He was a life member of VFW Post 249 of Butler, a life member of Butler Moose Lodge 64, a life member of Butler Elks 170 and a former member of the National Rifle Association.

Mr. Kennedy is survived by his brother, Edward J. and his wife, Joy Kennedy of Santa Ysabel, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a brother-in-law, Clyde McCaslin of Butler.

In addition to his wife, Irene P. Foraker Kennedy, whom he married Nov. 4, 1950, and who passed away Oct. 12, 2007, Mr. Kennedy was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

<B>KENNEDY</B> — Friends of Ray J. Kennedy, who died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, will be received from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Inc.</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Linda L. Deeter, chaplain at The Caring Place in Franklin, officiating.
