Carmen A. Oliva, 94, of Butler passed away at 7:57 p.m. Saturday at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 19, 1914, in West Winfield to Italian immigrants Samuel Oliva and Josephine Dellasala Oliva.

He attended school in West Winfield.

He married the former Mabel Cooper on July 6, 1945, at the rectory at St. Mary's in Herman.

He is a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.

Mr. Oliva was a member of the Joseph T. Black VFW Post 249 and a 50-year member of the United Commercial Travelers. He was a veteran of the Army serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

Since 1954 he has been a self-employed barber in Butler.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel Cooper Oliva; two daughters, Patricia Montag and her husband, Chuck, and Beverly Silbaugh, both of Butler; a son, Thomas Oliva of Houston; six grandchildren, Michael Montag and his wife, Sherry, of Butler, Michele Colvard and her husband, Jeffrey, of Pittsburgh, Matthew Montag and his wife, Christina, of Butler, Ryan Silbaugh of Cranberry Township, and Lisa Adkins and David Oliva, both of Houston. He also is survived by two step-grandchildren, Scot Silbaugh and his wife, Becky, of Ohio, and Lisa Silbaugh of Virginia; five great-grandchildren, Sarah, Oliviah, Ethan and Jacob Montag of Butler and Kade Adkins of Houston.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

<B>OLIVA</B>— Friends and family of Carmen Oliva, who died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. James Dolan officiating.
